Dear Friend,
It's time to become
a member of the Los Angeles Metropolitan Alliance! Serving
two geographical regions in Los Angeles, there is a Metro
Alliance organization near you working towards empowering
our communities and improving the conditions throughout Los
Angeles.
Over
the past 6 years the Metropolitan Alliance has been an integral
part of the Silverlake, Hollywood, Echo Park community,
creating a better Los Angeles for poor and working class
families and communities of color. SHEPMA has fought for
and won campaigns to reinvest in our youth’s future,
ensure rights for welfare recipients, and create job-training
programs linked to good jobs. Our most recent victory in
our Jobs & Health Care Campaign was winning $1 Million
dollars for an innovative job-training program in the Health
Care industry. Presently, the Metropolitan Alliance has
been part of a coalition to keep Daniel Freeman Memorial
Hospital in Inglewood open, protecting good jobs and healthcare
for our community.

The West Los Angeles Metropolitan Alliance has been working
diligently towards improving conditions on the Westside and
empowering its residents to take a more active role in their
communities since 1997. WLAMA has fought for and won campaigns
to reinvest in our youth’s future, ensure rights for welfare
recipients, and create job-training programs linked to good
jobs. Our most recent victory in our Jobs & Health Care
Campaign was winning $1 Million dollars for an innovative job-training
program in the Health Care industry. Presently, the Metropolitan
Alliance has been part of a coalition to keep Daniel Freeman
Hospital in Marina del Rey open, protecting good jobs and healthcare

None of these victories could have happened without you! SHEPMA
and WLAMA members are the backbone of this community, people
who share a vision for social and economic justice for everyone.
(Our members have created a model for the city of Los Angeles,
crossing ethnic and class lines to work together.) They’ve
built this organization from the ground up, earning both SHEPMA
and WLAMA respect from our community.

to ask that you join the Metropolitan Alliance so that we
can continue building a powerful grassroots organization.
