Grassroots organizing is the core of who we are and what we do. Low income and communities of color must be at the forefront of the struggle to win systemic change. Members and member-leaders are engaged in shaping and driving our campaigns through AGENDA in South Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Metropolitan Alliance in the Silver Lake, Hollywood and Echo Park communities (SHEPMA).
SCOPE combats trends of economic, political and social inequality through community organizing that links neighborhood problems to regional solutions. Our specific strategies include:
Recruiting poor and working class communities in South Los Angeles and Silverlake, Hollywood and Echo Park.
Leadership and membership development to engage our membership in shaping our analysis, identifying solutions and developing campaign strategies.
Demonstrating organized grassroots power through civic engagement, electoral organizing and direct action policy campaigns.
