Research grounded in our theory of social change is critical to our success in building a strategic movement.

In 1997, SCOPE launched a formal Research Department to develop public policy solutions to regional conditions and trends and to work directly with residents and grassroots organizations on strategic and participatory research and analysis.

SCOPE's Research Department:

• Delivers critical information to inform and support our policy campaigns
• Partners with academic institutions to produce cutting-edge research for our policy campaigns and organizing efforts.
• Develops tools and trainings to build a politically-conscious movement and ensure community participation at all levels of research so that communities take ownership of research and analysis.
